Playing on the Internet

If you typed chess into Google you’d no doubt find hundreds of website where you can get a quick game of chess. We however would like to suggest a few websites that are well worth investigating – and they’re all FREE!

ChessCube

This website is primarily for ‘Blitz’ and ‘Bullet’ chess which are very fast games. A have to admit I am a bullet chess addict, each player gets 1 minute each to complete the entire game! Although be warned this is not always good for you overall chess improvement as it takes away your well calculated, strategical thinking it does help your brain processing power for spotting tactical tricks and traps. So our advice is, play it in moderation…

Signing up to this website you can enter tournaments of any time length, play a single game or watch games of grandmasters it’s a great site for practice.

Clubs & Competitions

Come and speak to us if you are looking for a club or competition to play in, we know all the local, national and international events which running so we can certainly point you in the right direction for what you want. Alternatively, check out the Yorkshire Chess Association website where you will find lots of information on clubs, here you will find contact details and venue details.

Our respective organisations have agreed to work together to encourage the development of junior chess in the Bradford and District geographical area. To this end the BDCA have generously provided start up funding for the Academy to assist in the creation of the Academy and the purchase of equipment to get the Academy up and running.

The BDCA have also agreed to provide the Academy coaches with CRB checks through their established CRB approvals process.

The Academy will in turn keep the BDCA regularly update in relation to the Academy’s progress and successes. An annual report will also be published by the Academy to formally update the BDCA on these activities.

We would like to thank the BDCA for their support for the Academy and look forward to a long and fruitful working relationship with them.
